ICI Announces Lori Kearns as Retirement Security and Tax Policy Government Affairs Officer

Washington, DC; September 26, 2023—The Investment Company Institute (ICI), the leading global association representing regulated investment funds, has named Lori Kearns as a Director in the Government Affairs Department. Kearns will handle retirement security and tax policy issues, helping lead outreach to Democrats on Capitol Hill and the Administration. Most recently, Kearns served as the Policy Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

“We are thrilled to have Lori join our team,” said ICI Chief Government Affairs Officer John Emling. “Her deep experience in retirement policy is an incredible addition to the Institute. We look forward to having her broaden support for our retirement and tax priorities among members of Congress and within the Administration.”

“I’m excited to join ICI and continue working on retirement policies that benefit ICI’s members and the millions of retirement savers they serve. ICI has always been an advocate for helping Americans to secure their financial future,” said Kearns.

Prior to joining ICI, Kearns served as Policy Director for the DSCC. Before her time at the DSCC, Kearns spent many years as a senior staffer for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). She served as staff director of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security and was Legislative Director in Sen. Bernie Sanders’ personal office, where she managed the senator’s legislative staff. She was named one of “30 leaders under 40 changing healthcare” by Business Insider in 2020. Kearns is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Miami School of Law.
